Past Events Examples

We regularly incorporate hands-on farm experiences into our programming, giving children opportunities to interact with animals, learn how they are cared for, and explore where food comes from. These visits encourage curiosity, empathy, and a deeper understanding of nature through real-world exploration.

We explore our neighbourhood and beyond through guided community outings, including bus rides that help children build confidence, practice social skills, and become familiar with local landmarks. These trips support independence and help ease the transition to future school environments.

We connect with local fire services to introduce children to community helpers in a friendly, approachable way. Through station visits and hands-on experiences, children learn about fire safety, emergency preparedness, and the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe.

We organize active, child-friendly fundraising events, such as our Hop-A-Thon, that combine movement, teamwork, and fun. These experiences support physical development while helping children understand the value of working together to support their preschool community.

We host engaging social fundraisers that bring families, caregivers, and supporters together in a relaxed and welcoming setting. These events strengthen community connections while helping fund materials, programming, and special experiences for our children.

We build a love of books and storytelling through regular library visits that include tours, group story times, songs, and interactive activities. Children are encouraged to explore books independently, supporting early literacy, language development, and a lifelong enjoyment of reading.

Thank you to St. Catharines Public Library for hosting us, what a great way to encourage a love of reading and learning in our little ones. 🐛📚

We embrace seasonal and cultural celebrations throughout the year, creating meaningful experiences through crafts, dress-up, themed activities, and group traditions. These celebrations help children connect learning to the world around them while fostering joy, creativity, and shared experiences.

We incorporate outdoor and nature-focused field trips into our program, offering children opportunities to explore farms, gardens, and seasonal attractions. Activities like wagon rides, produce picking, and nature play support sensory learning and environmental awareness.

30th September marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. At North End Co-op Preschool we wore orange in acknowledgement, and we observed this important day by hearing stories, colouring and decorating orange shirts, and feeling the beat of the drum.

“Every child matters, including you and me. With our orange hearts, we walk in harmony.”
