Everyone is Welcome
North End Co-operative Preschool is a registered non-profit charitable organization that has been in operation since February 1976. In our child care program, every child belongs and is welcome. We provide a fully inclusive atmosphere that supports each child’s development. For additional support needs, a Resource Consultant can be accessed through our program.
Safety is our first concern
The school is licensed and inspected by the Ministry of Education – Child Care and Early Years Act 2014 and inspected by the Niagara Regional Health Department and the St. Catharines Fire Services.
Be Part of Our Community
North End Co-op Preschool strives to get parents involved in their child’s education. We offer parents the opportunity to engage in the classroom on a volunteer basis where parents help supervise children, perform housekeeping tasks, and assist with snacks. All parents commit to fundraising and committee participation, as well as the ability to serve on the Board of Directors.
Our teachers, Joanne Janzen and Lisa Skilnick, are Registered Early Childhood Educators. They have both completed Phase One and Phase Two Training in the Quality Child Care Niagara initiatives workshops.
Joanne Janzen graduated from Niagara College on the President’s Honour Roll and was awarded the Early Childhood Education Advisory Committee Award for outstanding achievement. In 2011, 2012, and 2013, the Niagara Early Childhood Educators Awards of Excellence recognized Joanne with the Early Learning and Child Care Practitioner Professionalism Award.
In 2014, North End Co-operative Preschool received the Quality Child Care Niagara Exceptional Program Award. This category of awards recognizes Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) who exemplify the highest professional standards in their daily practice with families and children. In 2017, North End Co-operative Preschool received the Nurturing Children’s Connection to Nature Award.
Joanne a member of the Co-operative Teachers’ Network Group and both she and Lisa continue to take workshops to ensure their skills and abilities are up to date so they can continue to provide an outstanding program for all the children in their care.
